Look up a word

Open Dictionary, choose the translation direction, enter a word, and press the arrow. When a word has several possible forms, Verbum shows them as separate cards.

Can Verbum parse a sentence?

Yes. Enter two or more Latin words and choose Parse Sentence. Sentence parsing is separate from Passage Scan and remains free.

Scan a printed passage

Press Scan on the Dictionary screen. Take a photo of printed Latin or choose a photo from your library. Recognition happens on your device. Tap a recognized word to look it up.

Does Verbum upload my photos?

No. Passage images and complete recognized passages stay on the device. Only a word you tap is sent to the dictionary service.

Why are some words missed?

Passage Scan works best with clearly printed Latin. Handwriting, decorative type, blur, glare, page curvature, low light, and steep camera angles can reduce accuracy. Retake the photo in even light or type the word manually.

Verbum Pro

Every installation includes three successful passage scans. A $4.99 one-time Verbum Pro purchase unlocks unlimited scans. Dictionary lookup, charts, sentence parsing, flashcards, and all other existing features remain free.

Restore a purchase

Open Settings, select Verbum Pro, then choose Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that originally purchased Verbum Pro. StoreKit purchase history determines access, including eligible Family Sharing purchases.

Apple handles payment and refunds. For a refund request, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

Troubleshooting

• If a lookup times out, check your connection and try again.
• If scanning fails, allow Camera or Photos access in iOS Settings, then retake the image.
• If Verbum Pro does not appear, use Restore Purchases while signed into the purchasing Apple Account.
• If saved cards appear incorrect, contact support before clearing them.

What to include in a report

Send the Verbum version, iOS version, what you expected, and what happened. Never include private documents, passage photos containing personal information, passwords, or payment-card details.
